Having opened in September 2007, the Harry Tompson Center provides much needed services to the homeless and poor of the downtown New Orleans area. As one of the partner agencies of the Rebuild Center at St. Joseph's Church, the Tompson Center, thanks to a dedicated staff and numerous volunteers, makes the following services available to those in need:

- a safe space to gather during the day-time hours
- restroom
- shower facilities
- phone room (local and long distance calls)
- laundry services
- hygiene kits
- limited mental health services
- access to professional volunteers for medical and legal services
- guided referrals to meet other needs, such as help with clothing, housing and medication
